Day 5

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 5 golden rings...how about a star with 5 golden tips? Well I am thrilled with how this tag turned out. The leaping deer is one of Tim Holtz dies and I am in love with it. The die also includes another deer who is standing not leaping.

My favorite part of this tag is how the background turned out. I was a little sad to cover any part of it up. I used distress inks and stains to create the background and then sprayed it with water. If you didn't already know distress products are made to react with water. On the tag you can see where the water drops dried. I love the effect of spraying the water on my distressed projects.

And of course no project seems complete without some crackle paint. After I distressed the deer I use rock candy distress paint on him.

Well that's all for now and don't forget to join me tomorrow for another tag

Day 4

Hello friends. I love Christmas trees. It never really feels like Christmas in my house until the tree is up and decorated. This tag is all about the Christmas tree and alcohol inks. The ornaments on the tree have been alcohol inked and the tinsel tree as well. If you have never used alcohol inks they are pretty fun to play with. They work best on non-porous surfaces, so things like metal, glass, and glossy paper. You can mix colors and they dry fast. There are tons of cool techniques you can do with alcohol inks but I used them in a very simple way.

I hope you are enjoying the holidays.

Day 3

Hello all. Well is there anything better then family at Christmas time? I love being with my family and taking lots of pictures. This tag was inspired by a tag that Tim Holtz did a few years ago. I loved the vintage Santa picture and how happy they looked sitting on Santa's lap.

Don't you love those buttons? Well I certainly do. They are made by Tim Holtz and I think they fit perfectly with this project. If you want to create a really beautiful vintage background you need to distress it up. Start by crinkling your paper then smooth it back out once you have it as crinkled as you like it. The use your distress inks and ink blending tool to add that vintage flair. I love using Antique linen and Vintage Photo when creating a aged background.

Please join me tomorrow for another fun tag.

Day 2

Hello Friends. I hope all is well and you are being crafty. With the stress of the holidays I like to sneak away and craft when I can, very therapeutic. Welcome to day 2 of my Christmas tags. I went pretty traditional Christmas with this tag, sticking to red, green and brown.

This beautiful flower is made out of tissue paper and is extremely easy to do. If you would like to learn how click here. After I made the flower I added the red to the tips.

The background was done with one of Tim Holtz Stencils. After using the stencil I applied rock candy crackle paint. I love love love crackle paint. If you haven't used it then you need to and soon, ranger announced they are discontinuing all crackle paints :(

Oh blogger I am so disappointed...Day 1(sort of)

Hello blog friends. This Year for Christmas I decided to create 12 tags of Christmas. I had my post all ready to go and checked today and blogger had deleted ALL of them! So that's why my "12 tags" are now just being posted. I hope you enjoy my tags and are having a wonderful holiday season. Things get so crazy this time of year I hope you take time to enjoy the company of family and friends.

Well for this tag the background is done using a Tim Holtz stencil. Stencils are a fun way to do something a little different with your projects Its a simple way to add a beautiful background to your project.. You can use inks, paints and sprays with stencils.

On the background of this tag I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder. I love snowflakes so this is definitely one of my favorite embossing folders. Embossing your projects adds texture and dimension to your projects.

Well thats all for now. Stay tuned for the rest of my wonderful tags!

New Sprays

Hello everyone!! Its almost Halloween and I fall is finally in the air. The past couple of days have been wonderful weather. I have felt very motivated to craft this week and use some new goodies I got. I bought a couple new Heidi Swapp sprays and they are beautiful!!

So I made three different cards using the sprays.

This card I used the white spray. You cant really see it in the first picture but you can see it better on the second one. The spray adds a beautiful sparkle to your cards.

On this card I used the coral along with peach and mustard.

Last but not least on this card I used the citron.
All the colors are wonderful and I have had fun playing with them. If you havent got your new colors stop by COOL SCRAPBOOK STUFF in Poway and pick it up while there still in stock! Have a great Halloween.

Sweet Cards

Hello Friends! Where did September go!! I cant believe it is already October, the year is flying by. Well I am very excited to be guest designing for Sweet Stamp Shop today. I love the stamps and always have lots of fun making cards with them. If you love to stamp you will be salivating over all the different stamp sets they have. I used two different stamp sets for my projects and both of them are beautiful! I hope you enjoy my crafting creations.

For the sweet jars I decided to use a SRM glassine bag and color with my distress inks, which I wouldn't recommend. I would use an alcohol ink so it stays on your bag unlike the distress ink will eventually rub off.

I Like using stamps in a way you wouldn't normally expect. I wanted to use the building as a background stamp instead of using it just as a building. I think using a stamp in different ways makes it more versatile. I do like the stamp as a building but i wanted to do something different. I used Hero Arts Shadow Inks and I am in love with them. They are such beautiful colors and blend well together.

I thought I would share some bonus cards with everyone!

I hope you had fun looking at my projects and feel inspired to go make your own wonderful cards. If you haven't checked out Sweet Stamp Shop you should stop by and see all the fun stuff they have. You can also go to their blog for more fantastic ideas plus tips and tricks. Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Back to school

Hello friends! Its been awhile since I last posted anything fun for you. I haven't been feeling very crafty so I decided to do a challenge to help get the juices flowing. I am playing along with Curtain Call this week and I had a lot of fun with this challenge and you can also play along here.

I had a fun time making this card and it was nice to finally get to use all the product I have recently bought.
So here is my card...

The apple paper I used is called "Autumn" by Authentique and it is the new fall line they have out.
The ruler, sequins, and gold borders are all Teresa Collins.
The stamp is Sweet Stamp Shop and the set is called "Chalkboard Sign."

I hope you enjoyed my card!

Use What You Have Challenge #12

Hello friends! I hope all are well and creating wonderful things. I am still out of town and decided to join Sweet Stamp Shop in one of their "Use What You Have" challenges. The challenge is pretty self explanatory, you use the crafting supplies you have. Since I am out of town i only brought some of my crafting supplies literally making me use what I have for this challenge. I decided to use my Hero Arts neon inks for this challenge.

So here is my stash I brought with me. Its pretty sad that this is only part of the crafting stuff I own. It seems like there is a lot of stuff there.
I love the neon colors of the Hero Arts ink pads.
I would have loved to use some of my SSS stamps but being out of town I have to use what I have :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week.
Happy Crafting!

Summertime!

I love the summer (except how bloody hot it is) so in honor of summertime i made a mini album. I will be teaching this album as a class sometime in the near future. I used a paper line called The Pier by Crate Paper. This paper line is beautiful and certainly reminds me of lazy days at the beach. Hope you enjoy!
